All About Your Doula
Hey there! I’m Janessa, boy mom, dog mom, nationally certified medical assistant through NCCT, prior enlisted military, photographer, gardener (with a terrible green thumb), podcast enthusiast, and my most recent titles include postpartum doula, labor doula, and lactation supporter and educator, trained by Maternity Wise International. For the last 6 years I’ve worked primarily in pediatric specialties along side physicians and nurses with hands on training. I am currently enrolled at Johnston Community College where I am pursuing a nursing degree where I hope to transfer to a 4-year college furthering my education and specializing in labor and delivery as well as neonatal care. I am CPR certified and up to date and all vaccines (I work for WakeMed and have received all required vaccinations to work in healthcare).

Although, I got a late start, after moving to North Carolina with my family, I decided to pursue my dream (nursing!). And as I got more into it, I realized after having my two children, I could genuinely help another mother going through the same situations I did. With my first son, I was not prepared to say the least. I knew the materialistic and emotional aspects of what my baby needed after he was born, but I was not prepared for pregnancy, labor, nor postpartum care for myself. I’ve experienced the hardships of pregnancy as well as those amazing precious moments that you wouldn’t trade for the world. I’ve experienced those postpartum feelings when you’re not sure you’re doing your best as well as those blissful moments when your little one smiles, and you know that you were meant to be a mother.

Supporting and helping mothers and their families is a passion of mine. I will be your advocate, lend a listening ear, and help you build confidence you may not know you have in you as a first-time mother or a mother transitioning from one child to two. I am here to respect every and any wish, request, or thought you may have. I am truly looking forward to working with you and your family.
